Project: Cadrona Ski field Racecourse Tunnel

Description:

The project involved the installation of a pre-cast concrete tunnel structure at Cardrona Ski Field to allow users of the new T-Bar to pass safely overtop of skiers and snowboarders beneath without disruption.

The tunnel consists of 12 Hynds Precast U-Culvert sections and wingwalls, weighing up to 15t each. The structure stands 5m tall. Almost 7m wide and over 10m long. Each section is tied and tensioned together, with reinforced concrete aprons assisting with supporting the wingwalls to the culvert face.

Access was tricky to this area of the hill and required proactive planning and liaison with other contractors onsite to ensure the machinery and culvert sections could safely reach the new tunnel location.
